Designed for impact: A new chapter for Pacific Environment

By Jared Saylor

The Pacific Rim is full of communities, ecosystems and stories that inspire action. At Pacific Environment, we are constantly asking how we can show up even more powerfully for all of them. As part of that reflection, we’ve refreshed our mission, vision and values and redesigned our look to reflect the energy, urgency and beauty of the work we do

We are thrilled to reveal our organizational rebrand and new visual identity that captures who we’ve become and where we are headed. While our logo and colors are new, our commitment to connecting, catalyzing and inspiring action across the Pacific Rim remains the same.

Our mission

Pacific Environment confronts our most urgent environmental issues by connecting local and global movements, catalyzing policy change and inspiring action for the benefit of people and our planet. Together, we promote a healthy climate, reduce pollution and conserve biodiversity for an equitable and thriving future.

Our values

  • Building power for systemic change. From grassroots to global, we partner with communities to build power for justice and systems change.
  • Evidence-based solutions for the planet. We catalyze change through people-powered advocacy and by grounding our work in science and traditional, Indigenous and local knowledge.
  • Collaborative relationships, coalition building and partnerships. We strive to build trusted relationships through coalitions and partnerships grounded in care, creativity and collaboration.
  • Making transformative, long-term impacts. We have the ambition, strategies and expertise to overcome significant challenges and make transformative, sustainable impacts.

Our vision

Pacific Environment envisions a just and healthy future for all communities and ecosystems.

About the rebranding, Executive Director Shannon Wright notes: “I love the image of the waves and the sun and the action because it represents our region — that we’re all connected through the ocean. The bright orange sun is a really bold color, and in many cultures it implies action and passion. For me, it really represents who we are: grounded in nature but action-oriented at the same time.”

A new look, same bold vision

The original Pacific Environment logo was grounded in our work along the Pacific Rim and reflective of our work in the Arctic. It served us well, but as our work has grown and evolved, we realized it no longer fully represented our efforts across the region.

As thought leaders and partners in environmental justice and community empowerment — and as experts in policy and advocacy confronting urgent environmental challenges from the local to global stage — we needed our new logo to more fully reflect our work.

Staying true to our mission while embracing change

Pacific Environment’s updated visual language is bold, modern and inspired by nature. Our new logo represents the meeting of ocean, land and sky, featuring a bright, vibrant sun over a cresting wave. The symbol evokes natural rhythms, the urgency of climate action and the interconnectedness of people and planet. Our color palette is bright, bold and energetic, drawing on the cultural and environmental richness of the Pacific Rim.

The vibrant red-orange draws from traditional pigments used across Pacific cultures to signify life, protection and power. Shades of turquoise and ocean blue reflect coastal ecosystems and water’s essential role for humanity and the environment.

The future of Pacific Environment

We use words like “connecting,” “catalyzing,” and “inspiring” to describe our mission. It is what sets us apart from other international environmental NGOs and is the formula for our success. Pacific Environment is confronting urgent global challenges, including climate change and plastic pollution, while also expanding efforts to protect and conserve the Arctic and the world’s oceans. Clear, aligned branding is critical to amplifying our message, mission and impact.

We are excited about this next chapter for Pacific Environment and are grateful to our partners, collaborators, funders and stakeholders for joining us in this work. Your support enables us to drive meaningful change and inspire action across the Pacific Rim. Together, we can protect the future of our planet.
